If you’re currently thinking about upgrading to a brand-new SUV, you’re certainly not short on options—most major brands have several to choose from, including Volkswagen. So, with 5 excellent VW SUVs to browse, how do you pick the right one?
Fret not, because that’s where we come in. Here are some key points to consider the next time you find yourself at our Volkswagen dealership near Shreveport, LA.
Volkswagen Tiguan
- Starting at $28,880
- Up to 22 MPG city, 29 MPG highway
- Seats 5 to 7
The Tiguan is Volkswagen’s best-selling SUV, largely because of its spacious interior, solid selection of tech features, and affordable sticker price.

It’s powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and comes with either front-wheel drive or 4MOTION® all-wheel drive. The drivetrain determines more than just acceleration and dynamics, though—FWD-equipped Tiguan models come with three rows of seating for 7, while the AWD Tiguan gets a two-row layout that seats 5.
This gives shoppers the option to maximize either seating or storage capacity depending on their needs, and it gives the Tiguan an edge of versatility that few other SUVs can match.
Standard tech features include the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, 8.0-inch center touch screen display, Bluetooth®, HD Radio, SiriusXM®, and Car-Net® compatibility with in-vehicle Wi-Fi.
Volkswagen Taos
- Starting at $24,995
- Up to 28 MPG city, 36 MPG highway
- Seats 5
The Taos is the most compact Volkswagen SUV, and also the most affordable. Don’t let its size fool you though, because it packs a lot of power and luxury into its modest size, and it has 99.5 cubic feet of passenger space.
For 2025, the Taos’s powertrain got a significant update. The 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder now puts out 174 horsepower, which is a 19 HP increase from the previous year, giving it noticeably more pep without sacrificing fuel economy.
Like most models, it’s also available with either front-wheel drive or 4MOTION® all-wheel drive, and AWD models also benefit from Driving Mode Selection and Active Control.

All Taos models also come with dual 8.0-inch Digital Cockpit and center touch screen displays, as well as standard USB App-Connect®, Bluetooth®, and Car-Net®.
Volkswagen Atlas
- Starting at $38,200
- Up to 20 MPG city, 26 MPG highway
- Seats 7
The Atlas holds the distinction of being the largest SUV on offer from VW, with three rows of roomy seating that feature plenty of head and legroom. In total, it boasts 154.0 cubic feet of passenger volume and up to 96.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the second and third rows folded, making it perfect for family road trips.

Powering the Atlas, we have a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder motor that cranks out 269 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Those solid power figures give it a max towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, which is plenty to haul small travel trailers, boats, and more.
All models also come with Drive Mode Select with five different settings, and AWD models add a sixth setting for off-road wheeling.
Thanks to recent updates, the Atlas also comes with some of the best standard tech features in the Volkswagen SUV roster. Amenities include a 12.0-inch center touch screen display, Digital Cockpit Pro, wireless device charging, six USB-C ports, wireless App-Connect®, and Car-Net® compatibility.
Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport
- Starting at $37,190
- Up to 20 MPG city and 26 MPG highway
- Seats 5
Take the power and high-end standard of the Atlas and present it in a sporty two-row package, and you have the Atlas Cross Sport.
Like the Atlas, it’s also powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 269 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It’s also capable of pulling up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with the right towing essentials, and it comes with up to six Drive Mode Select settings when equipped with all-wheel drive.
It shares many of the Atlas’s tech features as well, including the 12.0-inch center touch screen, 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, wireless App-Connect®, and wireless device charging.

The most important difference between the two is their size. The Atlas Cross Sport sacrifices its sibling’s third row for maximum comfort in the first two rows, with 41.7 inches of legroom in the front and 40.4 inches of legroom in the rear. It also has ample storage space, with 40.3 cubic feet behind the back seats, making it a bona fide adventure machine.
Volkswagen ID.4
- Starting at $45,095
- Up to 291 miles of range
- Seats 5
As VW’s dedicated electric SUV in the U.S., the ID.4 is absolutely packed with the latest in tech innovations, including a 12.9-inch touch screen display with navigation, VW Car-Net® capability, wireless App-Connect®, ID.Cockpit driver information display, and the ID. Light System, which complements the standard IQ.DRIVE driver assistance technology.

Like other SUV models, the ID.4 can be optioned with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It also has two available battery setups.
The base 62-kWh battery puts out 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque, while the upgraded 82-kWh battery cranks things up to 282 horsepower and 402 pound-feet of torque. All ID.4 models can reach 10 to 80% state of charge in half an hour.
Thanks to its futuristic battery platform and dimensions, the ID.4 is deceptively spacious, with 99.9 cubic feet of total passenger volume and 30.3 cubic feet of rear cargo volume, which is roughly on par with the Tiguan despite its smaller footprint.
